Service of Unity
On Wednesday, Nov. 4, our community gathered on zoom to share a time of reading, reflection, and prayer in the wake of a tense and challenging election season. The service followed a structure borrowed from the Psalms:
Naming God
Naming our Needs
Petitioning God for Help
Expressing our Hope
Our prayer and healing is grounded in first remembering who God is. We can name the pains that we feel and witness, and petition God for hope, because of who God is. And once we have sought God's help we can rest in the hope of God's power and healing.
Our recording missed the first part of this service, but we named God as:
God of Love
Jehovah Jireh, Provider God
Creator God
God who sees and hears
Healing God
Almighty God
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and
God of Hope
We began "naming our needs" by hearing the words of John 13:34-35
"I give you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, so you also must loved each other. This is how everyone will know that you are my disciples, when you love each other."
The service continues below. May it bless you.
